"Having a consistent standard is the first step to making AdvancedTCA a marketable solution for mainstream communications platforms. CP-TA is working to create a true 'industry standard' by narrowing the options for specification implementation and certifying interoperable building blocks. I see the efforts of the CP-TA as a key enabler for a new generation of communications platforms."

CP-TA Interoperability Compliance Document
The Interoperability Compliance Document (ICD) is the foundation document for CP-TA interoperability guidelines. The ICD defines objective and verifiable interoperability criteria and maps to test procedures in the Test Procedure Manual (TPM). Using the ICD in conjunction with the TPM, vendors will be able to design and build interoperability into their products.
The ICD 3.0 release addresses thermal, manageability, and data transport interoperability domains for PICMG’s ATCA specification and is aligned to the system-level profile developed by the SCOPE Alliance. The enhanced release includes new thermal requirements as well as improved mapping for the manageability requirements to the Test Procedure Manual. The entire document has been updated to provide better clarity for the requirements.
Thermals
- Addresses airflow and impedance requirements for Shelves and Blades of an ATCA system
- Includes Front Board and RTM requirements and classifications
Manageability
- Addresses Section 3 of the ATCA Specification
- ATCA Boards
- Shelf Managers
Data Transport
- Base Interface only
- Base Interface and 1G Fabric Interface
- Base Interface and 1G & 10G Fabric Interface
- Update Channel
- Ethernet selected as the transport protocol
