"Having a consistent standard is the first step to making AdvancedTCA a marketable solution for mainstream communications platforms. CP-TA is working to create a true 'industry standard' by narrowing the options for specification implementation and certifying interoperable building blocks. I see the efforts of the CP-TA as a key enabler for a new generation of communications platforms."

CP-TA Test ToolsCP-TA is working with industry partners to develop interoperability test tools that will enable vendors to speed design and increase their confidence in interoperability. With an initial focus on PICMG's ATCA specification, CP-TA is addressing the top interoperability issues of thermals, manageability, and data transport.
Thermal Test Tools
CP-TA has validated the Chassis Scan thermal tool as an ATCA chassis bulk airflow tester. Thermal interoperability of a blade in an ATCA shelf depends on the airflow characteristics of the shelf and airflow impedance of the blade. The Chassis Scan offers a standardized methodology to measure bulk airflow of a single slot or for all slots in any ATCA chassis within an error margin of five percent. CP-TA is currently reviewing tools for validation that will measure chassis quadrant airflow measurement and slot airflow direction determination capabilities in accordance with PICMG® specifications and CP-TA interoperability testing requirements. Manageability Test ToolsCP-TA has selected Polaris Networks' ATCA Tester as an authorized IPMI Manageability Test Tool for the CP-TA compliance test suite. This tool meets the requirements for CP-TA manageability testing requirements laid out in the Interoperability Compliance Document and Test Procedure Manual.
Additionally, CP-TA suggests Polaris Networks' MicroTCA Tester and AMC Tester as manageability test tools for MicroTCA and AMC products, respectively. For more information on these tools, please click on the respective links to visit to appropriate Polaris Networks web page. CP-TA has negotiated for certain discounts on xTCA test tools from Polaris Networks for member companies depending on the level of membership:
- 20% discount from list price for CP-TA Sponsors
- 10% discount from list price for CP-TA Contributors
- 5% discount from list price for CP-TA Participants
Additionally, CP-TA has made arrangements with Polaris Networks to provide one week of free remote testing for all new members.
Please contact Polaris Networks for more detailed information about these discounts.
Additional xTCA Test ToolsCP-TA will continue to evaluate additional tools to address future xTCA requirements.
