ATCA and MicroTCA* are key platforms for carriers and equipment suppliers
riding the converged IP network wave. Using these platforms, vendors are
delivering new systems and services in a fraction of the time required for
conventional developments. This is a quickly growing market, and ATCA, AMC
& MicroTCA: Off-the-Shelf Platforms for the Converged IP Network will
bring attendees up to date on the latest developments from all levels in the
AdvancedTCA supply chain - from component and middleware vendors to system
integrators, equipment vendors, and carriers.
The primary goals of this one-day event are:
* To assess the impact of AdvancedTCA on system development for the
converged IP network.
* To engage telecom equipment providers and carriers in a dialogue about
the benefits of using carrier grade, off-the-shelf hardware and
software.
* To provide a status update on ATCA, AMC, and MicroTCA component and
system availability.
* To educate equipment and service providers on the opportunities for
MicroTCA systems in telecom and other applications.

With competition rising, service providers are under incredible pressure to
increase profit margins and find new forms of revenue to offset eroding
margins on traditional voice services. Telcos, mobile operators, and new
emerging providers are turning to IP technology to build out existing
networks to include IMS carrier-grade components to support rich,
bandwidth-intensive multimedia services. Join RadiSys, Wind River, and
GoAhead Software in an informative discussion on the advantages gained by
utilizing a multi-function IMS solution using one integrated platform.

In AdvancedTCA, the core of the system is no longer the host or system
slot housing a processing blade. ATCA, supporting a variety of
different fabrics, presents many instances in which the switch drives the
overall chassis functionality, especially in telecommunications
applications. With the rise in demand and continued growth of IMS,
VoIP, WiMAX, and direct-to-consumer streaming of voice, video, and data,
many are finding that bottlenecks of their application is not at the
traditional processing level but rather at the switch level, where the
system cannot keep up with the bandwidth demanded. With ATCA and
telecommunications, the switch drives not only the overall functionality of
a given chassis, but also the overall performance of an organization’s
application.
During this webinar Joe McDevitt and JP Landry take a look at DTI’s third
generation of Ethernet-based ATCA switch, ATS1936, with the focus being on
offering flexibility through 10G capabilities and multiple AMC sites. The
market has come to rely on DTI as the Leader in ATCA switching, requiring a
continuous drive to provide the performance increases required in today’s
bandwidth-intensive applications; such as IMS, VoIP, Security, IPTV, and
multi-service IP Networks. For more information or to register, visit https://www.gotomeeting.com/register/315656488.

Ethernet has established itself as the fabric of choice in AdvancedTCA. The term "Ethernet" only defines the lowest levels of a network though. Many features and protocols build on top of Ethernet to create a complete, robust network as is needed in AdvancedTCA. System designers need to be familiar with these features and protocols so they can make informed decisions when choosing equipment. In this webinar, host JP Landry reviews some key features every AdvancedTCA designer should be familiar with and demonstrates how to use them properly. The Communications Platforms Trade Association (CP-TA) is an association of communications platform and building block providers working together to accelerate the adoption of SIG-governed, open-specification-based communication platforms by certifying interoperable building blocks. This Webinar will provide an overview of the CP-TA’s Interoperability Compliance Document (ICD) and Test Procedure Manual (TPM). The ICD defines objective and verifiable interoperability criteria, and provides guidance to the definition of the test procedures described in the TPM. The ICD 1.0 covers three major functional areas of AdvancedTCA platforms: Thermal, Manageability and Data Transport. Attendees will gain insight into the requirements that are necessary to enable interoperable building blocks and system components from multiple vendors. They will also learn how these requirements are linked to the test procedures described in the TPM.
