"Having a consistent standard is the first step to making AdvancedTCA a marketable solution for mainstream communications platforms. CP-TA is working to create a true 'industry standard' by narrowing the options for specification implementation and certifying interoperable building blocks. I see the efforts of the CP-TA as a key enabler for a new generation of communications platforms." ∼ Jim McGregor, Principal Analyst, In-Stat

CP-TA Test Tools

CP-TA is working with industry partners to develop interoperability test tools that will enable vendors to speed design and increase their confidence in interoperability. With an initial focus on PICMG’s specifications, CP-TA is addressing the top interoperability issues of thermal, manageability and data transport.

Thermal Test Tools

CP-TA has selected DegreeC’s Chassis Scan and Blade Profiler as the first generation thermal test tools for its AdvancedTCA interoperability testing. These test tools will provide vendors with a systematic way to measure airflow impedance of a blade and airflow distribution across slots in an AdvancedTCA shelf. Both tools meet the requirements for thermal interoperability outlined in the Interoperability Compliance Document and Test Procedure Manual.

Chassis Scan

The Chassis Scan system is designed to characterize airflow through an AdvancedTCA shelf, as specified by the ICD and TPM. It profiles airflow distribution across slots in an AdvancedTCA shelf and maps airflow within Front and RTM slots.

Blade Profiler

The Blade Profiler system is a testing instrument developed for airflow impedance measurement of an AdvancedTCA Front board. It lets the user perform a flow impedance scan of an individual board in a matter of minutes. This process will assure that it complies with the flow impedance requirement of the ICD.

Manageability Test Tool

CP-TA has selected Polaris' ATCA™-Tester as the IPMI Manageability Test Tool for the CP-TA certification test suite. It meets the requirements for CP-TA manageability certification laid out in the Interoperability Compliance Document and Test Procedure Manual.

ATCA™-Tester

An updated version of the ATCA Tester, Release 2.2.0, was released February 12, 2008. The updated tester is fully compliant with PICMG 3.0 R2.0 AdvancedTCA Base Specification ECN-002. The enhanced release includes complete detailed decodes of RMCP, IPMI and HPM packets exchanged between the tester and the ATCA Shelf.

Current users having active license of the ATCA tester can get this free update by contacting the company on sales@polarisnetworks.net.

CP-TA will continue to evaluate additional tools to address future requirements.
